Hope and Healing for Affected Children
Thalassemia is an inherited blood disorder that affects the body’s ability to produce sufficient haemoglobin, leading to anaemia—a shortage of red blood cells. While mild anaemia may not cause significant issues, severe cases require regular blood transfusions to ensure that tissues receive adequate oxygen to function properly.
Thalassemia Facts:
6,000 children are born with Thalassemia Major annually in Pakistan.
70% of these children die before the age of 10, often succumbing to complications from Hepatitis B or C.
90% of affected children come from low-income families, where limited access to healthcare exacerbates their condition.

Raising Awareness and Prevention
Alongside our medical services, we prioritise public awareness regarding thalassemia. We conduct seminars, walks, and community events to educate families about the disorder and its prevention. Our Chairman, Dr Haji Muhammad Hanif Tayyab, actively collaborates with religious scholars to advocate for thalassemia screening before marriage, encouraging the detection of the disease-causing gene to prevent future cases.
At Al-Mustafa Welfare Society, our goal is to alleviate the suffering of children with thalassemia while promoting awareness and preventive measures in society. With your support, we can continue to provide vital treatment and improve the quality of life for affected families.
