Restoring Vision, Renewing Lives

The Global Challenge of Vision Impairment

Approximately 1.3 billion people worldwide suffer from vision impairment, with 36 million classified as blind. Notably, 90% of individuals with visual impairments live in developing countries, and 80% of sight loss is preventable or treatable. Cataracts account for 51% of global blindness, but barriers such as poverty prevent many from accessing necessary surgeries.

Our Commitment to Cataract Surgery

Since 2006, Al-Mustafa Welfare Society has organized Free Cataract Surgery Program across Pakistan, particularly in rural and underserved areas. We have conducted 770 camps and performed 230,195 free cataract surgeries, restoring sight to thousands who would otherwise go untreated.

What Is Cataract?

A cataract is the clouding of the lens in the eye, leading to symptoms such as blurry vision, halos around lights, and difficulty recognizing faces. This impairment not only makes daily activities challenging but also increases the risk of falls and depression.
