Description
Vision for All: Restoring Sight to the Underprivileged
We are dedicated to combating preventable blindness by offering free cataract surgeries at eye camps in rural and suburban areas, as well as at our designated hospitals. This comprehensive approach delivers immediate and profound impacts on the lives of our beneficiaries.
Confronting the Challenge of Cataracts
Cataracts, characterised by the clouding of the eye lens, contribute to half of all blindness cases worldwide and 33% of visual impairment. In Pakistan, an estimated 570,000 individuals are bilaterally blind due to cataracts, as highlighted in the British Journal of Ophthalmology. The primary barrier to accessing eye care services is often the financial cost involved.
Comprehensive Care Solutions
Our project offers a range of complimentary services, including eye outpatient services, biometry for surgical lens assessment, cataract surgeries, postoperative medication, and follow-up visits. These services are made available at our designated hospitals and through free eye camps across Pakistan, targeting impoverished rural and suburban communities lacking adequate healthcare facilities.
Long-Term Benefits for Communities
With a success rate of nearly 99% for our free cataract surgeries, we significantly enhance the vision-specific and overall health-related quality of life for those affected. Individuals who have undergone surgery are more likely to engage in productive activities and require less assistance in daily tasks, promoting independence and improving their overall well-being.
